GuitarFest 2024 is an exciting celebration of guitar music in Singapore, organized by City Music. It was held on 26 October and featured live performances from diverse artists, hands-on workshops led by industry experts, and lots and lots of electric guitars.
Festival Highlights
The Electric Guitar Festival had many exciting moments. Here are some of the key highlights:
Incredible Performances: The festival featured talented artists who showcased their unique sounds. I had the pleasure of sharing some jazz music on a vintage Gibson archtop guitar!
Workshops and Masterclasses: There were many hands-on workshops led by experienced musicians, covering topics such as songwriting and guitar techniques, offering valuable tips for players of all skill levels.
Guitar Showcases: There were many guitars on display, including the latest models and classic vintage instruments. It was a great chance to try out different guitars and speak with vendors about their products.
Heirlooms Music
I also want to take a moment to highlight my collaboration with Heirlooms Music, a a specialist in vintage and boutique guitars. I had the sheer joy of demonstrating the 1955 vintage Gibson ES350 archtop guitar. It’s a standout vintage archtop, offering that classic, warm tone thanks to its original P-90 pickups. The guitar is not just a collector’s item—it’s a playable piece of history.
Lucky draw winner... my student!
One of the highlights for me personally was that my very own student and friend won one of the best lucky draw prizes… a Revival electric guitar! Revival is a house brand of Sound Alchemy music, making great value-for-money instruments for beginner guitarists.
The Sense of Community
What impressed me most about this year’s festival was the sense of community. It was heartwarming to see people from different backgrounds coming together, all sharing their love for music and the guitar. This connection is what makes festivals like this so meaningful.
Final Thoughts
With the success and enthusiasm of this year’s GuitarFest, I’m pretty sure City Music is going to make it happen again in years to come. Perhaps future years will expand to include more brands, workshops, and even greater opportunities for hands-on engagement.
So thank you City Music for bringing together the guitar community in Singapore, and I’m really excited to see what more City Music has to offer in the years to come.
